new work and series in process > Shelter Dog Shadows

Shelter Dog Shadows is an ongoing series of canine paper dolls in blue-black ink. Sometimes a heart or a clump of frozen strawberries is depicted with the dogs. This series was prompted by and invitation to donate work for Peel Gallery's January 2025 fundraiser for Hope Animal Rescue in Orange County, North Carolina.

To frame the work and bring material uncertainty to this project, I reached out to my neighbors for intact frames that they would otherwise discard. So far I have received about 50 frames. The act of placing a paper canine in a used and sometimes sratched up frame that I did not purchase feels meaningful. I plan to fill every frame I receive.
