Participatory Collage Workspaces

Mer Haggerty's studio art practice includes work in both solo and participatory collage. She has facilitated participatory collage workspaces at Eno Arts Mill in Hillsborough, NC The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC, internationally via snail mail with support from the Orange County Arts Commission and at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Exquisite Corpse Make And Take

Exquisite Corpse is an art game where multiple participants collaborate on a work of art with only tiny clues about what prior participants have done to the piece. At this collage workspace, Mer Haggerty will have started many collages using scraps from her studio. She will cover up all but a tiny clue on each collage. Participants will be invited to complete the collage then uncover Mer's part of the collage, unveiling a mystery collaboration that celebrates chance, uncertainty and the feedback loop of shared artistic practice.

Space-Making-Collaborative-Collage

At Space-Making-Collaborative-Collage events participants are invited to make and add collage elements to a large piece of paper representing a named space (a yard sale, a county map or a meadow) thus allowing visitors to spend a moment or hours reflecting upon what it means to envision and share space.
